Only one in three persons claim 'yearning for azadi' behind J-K unrest: Poll
New Delhi, July 19(ANI): An opinion poll conducted by Outlook magazine has found that only one in three person has described yearning for 'azadi' as the reason for the current unrest in the Kashmir valley.
According to the poll conducted in association with Marketing and Development Research Associates (MDRA), 30.8 percent described yearning for freedom as the reason for the flare up.
A majority of 75 percent saw no external hand, but believed it was an indigenous struggle.
Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram had recently blamed Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) for the unrest, but the poll negated the claims, as 75 percent of those polled did not see Pakistan's hand behind the stone pelting, The Daily Times reports.
It also found that 45.4 percent blamed the Congress-led Union government for the mess, while only 11.7 percent blamed the security forces. (ANI)
