96 repeat telecasts in a day leave Brit TV viewers livid

London, July 12 (ANI): Irate television viewers are inundating channels with complaints over the number of repeats being broadcast, with one saying he counted 96 in just one day.

The viewer was so astonished by the number he also wrote to the Sunday Express.

He said: "Last Tuesday must have been a record. BBC1 showed 12 repeats, BBC2 showed 30, ITV1 had four, Channel 4 had 18 and Five showed 32. Most of these repeats are for children, who should be in school."

The summer's sporting schedule is being blamed for the lack of new shows on television in recent weeks.

A source said: "The World Cup is a big factor here. No channel is going to throw away a decent new show against a World Cup match, that would be madness, but this summer could be the worst yet."

A BBC spokeswoman added: "This summer there have been a lot of major sporting events and we have had to ensure some flexibility, which sometimes involves repeating some of our best programmes.

Tight budgets are also hitting schedules, as bosses save their best programs until the autumn. (ANI)
