Nepal govt to introduce casino regulations
New Delhi, July 9 (ANI): The Nepal government is all set to introduce casino regulations to curb possible malpractices in the business.
"We have realized the necessity of close monitoring and this is why the ministry is planning to introduce a set of regulations," English.news.cn quoted Laxman Bhattarai, spokesperson for Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, as telling Republica daily.
The new procedures would set a number of standards, including maintaining international standard service quality, Bhattarai told the daily.
Currently, there are 10 casinos in operation in the capital Kathmandu and western tourism city Pokhara, with each casino paying 20 million Nepali rupees (some 270270 U.S. dollars) as royalty to the government.
However, Bhattarai denied any possibility of amending the law to allow Nepali to gamble in the casinos.
"Allowing Nepali citizens in casinos would mean inviting economic and social problem for them," added Bhattarai. (ANI)
