Mamata Banerjee files FIR against shoe-maker
New Delhi, Jun 24: The Indian Railways has lodged an FIR against a shoe-maker for using the Union Railway Minister, Mamata Banerjee's picture in an advertisement.
"Railways has lodged the FIR against Ajanta Company in the Parliament Street police station. It was published without the knowledge and permission of the cabinet minister," a senior railway ministry official told a news agency.
The full page advertisement was published in Sambad Pratidin, a Kolkata based Bengali newspaper on Jun 21. The ad claimed that the minister was was wearing rubber slippers manufactured by Ajanta Company.
The FIR was lodged on the behalf of Mamata Banerjee on Jun 22.
"She is very upset over it. The ad, it seems, has been put out for pecuniary gains by exploiting Mamata's image," the official added.
