Carla Bruni wears glasses to cultivate 'a more serious image'

London, May 20 (ANI): French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy wore glasses for the first time at a public engagement in order to promote 'a more serious image' of herself.

Mrs Sarkozy put the black designer frames on during her appearance as an anti-Aids ambassador at an event in Paris.

"Carla always tries to look as young as possible, but the glasses made it clear that she wanted a more serious image", The Telegraph quoted a fashion observer close to Bruni-Sarkozy, as saying.

Dressed in a low cut, a limited edition T-shirt and a logo brooch designed by the jewellers Tiffany and Co., complete with the designer glasses, Bruni-Sarkozy's image was transformed.

She is set to meet David Cameron in Paris today, telling a friend that she considered the new Prime Minister to be "very handsome and well educated" and " a real English gentleman from a good family."

Shortsighted for much of her adult life, the French first lady has worn contact lenses in the past but is now very comfortable with her glasses, according to one of her entourage. (ANI)
