Kayani a 'pro-democracy' Army Chief: Gilani
Lahore, Apr.13 (ANI): Describing Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani as a 'pro-democracy' general, Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the Army Chief has always supported the country's civilian set-up.
Interacting with media persons here, Gilani said he would keep in mind Kayani's support for democracy in mind while extending his tenure, The Daily Times reports.
Last week, Gilani had hailed the army's decision to not to interfere in country's political affairs, saying the armed forces are supporting democracy while remaining within the constitution's ambit.
Speaking during a luncheon hosted by National Assembly Speaker Fehmida Mirza to celebrate the passage of the 18th Constitutional Amendment bill, Gilani urged all state institutions to work under their described framework for the over all development of Pakistan. (ANI)
