AP High Court rejects Muslim Quota Bill
Hyderabad, Feb 8: In a huge blow to the ruling Congress government, the Andhra Pradesh High Court has rejected the Muslim Quota Bill which sought 4 per cent reservations for Muslims in educational institutions.
The seven member high court bench on Monday, Feb 8, took his decision saying that the bill was not sustainable. The bench also observed that the government was only pushing for the quota bill to appease a section of the society.
As per media reports, the court has also declared the the 2007 admissions done on the basis of this quota invalid.
The Muslim Quota Bill was one of the biggest electoral promises of the Congress. This ruling is not only a shocker for the political party but is also bound to disappoint various Muslim bodies.
