No way of choosing UID numbers: Nilekani
Bangalore, Nov 14: Nandan Nilekani, Chairman of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has made it clear that the
16-digit Unique Identification (UID) number will be randomly selected by computer and there is no way one can change it.
"No special number. Take the number you get. Number will be numeric; it will be 16-digit number" he said in response to a question on selection of numbers out of superstition BangaloreIT.Biz 2009 conference.
UID will be handed over to 600 million people by the end of 2014 while the processing of the 16-digit UID number will begin within 12 to 18 months.
