Saudi envoy to Pak refuses to divulge anything on Sharif-Saudi king deal
Lahore, Oct. 6 (ANI): Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Abdul Aziz Al-Ghadeer has refused to either confirm or deny reports of PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif's deal with Saudi King Shah Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz.
"I am not in a position to confirm or reject Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz chief Nawaz Sharif's deal with the Saudi royal family," the Daily Times quoted Al-Ghadeer, as saying.
He was speaking on the sidelines of a ceremony held in Islamabad to mark Saudi Arabia's 79th national day.
On the same occasion, Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said that it is Sharif's decision whether to contest polls or not, and it is Pakistan's internal matter.
"We congratulate our Saudi brethren on the occasion of their national day and look forward to further deepening the affinity and brotherhood not only between the two countries but also between the two peoples," Gilani said.
Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in Pakistan's National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that the Saudi king had never stopped Sharif from contesting the upcoming by-polls. (ANI)
