Suresh sustained serious injuries and was admitted to a nearby hospital.
Vettiyankal tomy, who encountered elephant on the road, said he had a narrow escape from the animal's wrath.
"The elephant was in the middle of the road. I veered off to avoid the animal and opened the door and ran out. The elephant came near the car and overturned it and then pushed it down," Tomy said.
The rampage continued for about four hours and was brought to an end after the animal rescue squad fired tranquilliser shots at the elephant, which finally calmed it down. (ANI)
