Retail sale of Tamiflu from next week

New Delhi, Sep 15: The only antiviral drug that is effective against the Swine Flu, Tamiflu will be available at the local pharmacies from next week.

The health ministry, on Monday, Sep 14 decided to allow retail yet 'restricted' sale of the antiviral drug and the notification will be issued on Tuesday, Sep 15.

The H1N1 drug will be available in 480 select chemists across the country, out of which 30 are from Delhi.

However, the health ministry did raise certain concerns over the retail sale of the drug, including hoarding.

The easy availability of the drug could also led to people taking the pill without actually having any symptoms and therefore increasing drug resistance among healthy individuals.
