Saucy 60s postcards to raise thousands at auction
London, Aug 12 (ANI): A set of 25 original saucy paintings, which were turned into politically incorrect postcards, is expected to fetch thousands at an auction.
Measuring just over 10in by 7in, the risqué 1960s pictures were the work of Phil Millar, who used the pen name Pedro.
The paintings were the original designs for a set of Carry On style postcards which were popular in the 1960s and 1970s, reports The Mirror.
The watercolours were almost lost forever when they were dumped in a skip in Calne, Wiltshire, in 1989.
But, Des Hudd, 69, who runs the skip firm with wife Barbara, 55, discovered the paintings stuffed in a plastic bag and decided to keep them safe.
Des, of Hatherleigh, Devon, said: "I'm a bit of a magpie and thought they might be worth a few bob so kept them in my loft.
"I was always a fan of the naughty postcards and was overjoyed when I stumbled across this pristine collection."
Colin Such of auctioneers Warwick and Warwick said: "They show how suggestive the humour was in the 60s."
They are set to fetch up to 50-pound each at the sale in Warwick. (ANI)
