Bill Clinton in N Korea over release of US scribes
Seoul, Aug 4: The former US president, Bill Clinton has reportedly landing in North Korea to negotiate the release of two American journalists who have been sentenced to 12 years of hard labour in the country.
The two reporters of California-based internet broadcaster Current TV, Laura Ling and Euna Lee who were found guilty of entering North Korea across the Chinese border in March 2009, were sentenced in June 2009.
Northe Korea's state news agency KCNA reports that the former US President was presented with a bouquet from a little girl on his arrival at Pyongyang. He was greeted vice president of the presidium of North Korea's parliament, and by vice foreign minister Kim Kye-Gwan.
Apart from the issue of the two journalists being detained by the communist state, the two countries have had trouble over the nuclear tests conducted by North Korea.
