Arresting Awan, Malik could lead to Bhutto's assassins: PPP
Islamabad, July 18 (ANI): Arresting federal ministers Babar Awan and Rehman Malik could lead to the masterminds of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto's assassination, Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader Chaudhury Aslam has said.
Aslam said he has already written a letter to the UN Commission probing the assassination asking it to arrest the ministers.
In an interview with an Urdu daily, Aslam said that Awan and Malik had deliberately boarded the vehicle which was meant for escorting Bhutto's car.
By the time Bhutto was attacked, Malik and Awan had already reached the Zardari House in Islamabad, leaving Bhutto behind in Rawalpindi, he said.
Aslam said the whole incident was a well thought-out conspiracy against the former premier.
"The officials involved in washing the crime scene just a few hours after the assassination should also be arrested and interrogated to trace the real culprits," The Nation quoted Aslam, as saying. (ANI)
