Pak Army now in search of 'hardcore' Taliban commanders: ISPR

Islamabad, May 31 (ANI): After claiming to have regained hold of the Swat Valley's main town, Mingora, the Pakistan Army has said that is now preparing to flush out 'hardcore' Taliban commanders from the region.

"We are going after the leadership and we are going to take care of all the militants in the valley," the ISPR spokesperson Major General Athar Abbas said.

He said that the security forces have captured important locations in the valley and are carrying out intense search operations to nab some of the Taliban's top commanders who may have been hiding in the region.

"We have been able to block the major routes and the entries, exit points of the valley. So we are in a better position to flush out, to eliminate the main militants, the hardcore militants of the valley," Major General Abbas added.

He said that the military's next target is Charbagh, a Taliban stronghold situated 32km north of the valley.

Major General Abbas also claimed that the security forces have successfully flushed out majority of the insurgents and only 1000 of them are left in the region. (ANI)
