Washington, Feb 13 (ANI): A man accused of impersonating late Aussie actor Heath Ledger's grieving father to con John Travolta has been sentenced, after he was caught in a similar act in Britain.

Wayne Scott, 36, who had been involved in a plot to con John Travolta, allegedly made a number of tearful telephone calls to Hollywood stars after the actor's death in January 2008, pretending to be his dad Kim.

As per the New York Daily News, the New York City police reported that Scott had tried to con Travolta into buying him a ticket to the U.S., and that he even managed to speak with the doctor who performed the autopsy on Ledger, reports Contactmusic.

The NYC police were not able to press charges against Scott, as they could not prove he profited from the plot, but he was not so lucky with the police in UK.he con man was caught in Britain after he admitted to three similar offences, including fraudulently obtaining soccer memorabilia, and duping sick kids into thinking he was an American wrestler.

Scott has been ordered to perform 200 hours of community service, pay 500 dollars in fines, and abide by a court-appointed curfew. (ANI)
