Nepali Congress asks govt not to go ahead with ordinances

Kathmandu, Feb 4 (ANI): Nepali Congress (NC) leaders have urged the government not to introduce any ordinances immediately.

A team of Nepali Congress leaders led by Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel met Prime Minister Prachnada here today and asked him to put on hold the ordinances that are in the pipeline.

They suggest that the bills be tabled in the House for endorsement instead of promulgating them through ordinance. They also said the party would resort to protests if their suggestions are ignored.

In response, Prachanda urged them not to object to the ordinances since they are important and sought cooperation form the opposition party.

After the meeting, Nepali Congress leaders told reporters that they hoped that the government would not come up with new ordinances before the next parliamentary session.

Earlier, the government has promulgated three ordinances including the Investment Board Ordinance-2065, Ordinance to Declare Special Economic Zone (SEZ) -2065 and the Public Service Ordinance, Nepalnews reported. (ANI)
