Gaza saga: Ceasefire violated
Israel, Jan 28: Ceasefire has been violated in Gaza strip. An Israeli warplane on Wednesday, Jan 28 bombed tunnels under the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt that are used by militants to smuggle weapons.
As the aircraft struck three times, people panicked and began to flee, according to Rafah and Hamas security officials. However, there was no casuualties reported.
Air strikes on smuggling tunnels in the town of Rafah came as a response to Tuesday's, Jan 27 attack by Gaza militants on an Israeli military vehicle. The vehicle while patrolling the Gaza border was hit by bomb which killed one soldier and wounded three others.
One of Israel's main objectives of its 22-day onslaught against Gaza, which killed 1,300 Palestinians, was to put and end to smuggling from Egypt using the tunnels, which they said were being used to smuggle in weapons, including rockets that were being fired against Israeli towns.
