Fuel price to become cheaper on Jan 15
New Delhi, Jan 15: Petrol prices might become cheaper by Rs 5 a litre on Thursday, Jan 15. In a cabinet meeting on Thursday, govt might also reduce the price of diesel by Rs 2 a litre and LPG by Rs 25 per cylinder.
The additional revenues to govt will be raised by increasing excise duty on petrol and diesel by a minimum of Re 1 per litre. Cabinet may also issue an additional Rs 30,000 crore oil bonds this fiscal year to make up for oil companies losses on the sale of LPG and kerosene.
