Queen Mother's favourite song was 60's hit 'Thank U Very Much'

London, December 24 (ANI): The late Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother used to sing 60's hit track 'Thank U Very Much' to her family members after dinner, it has emerged.

Mike McCartney, who wrote the song in 1967 while being in 'The Scaffold,' revealed that he could not imagine when the staff told him his "silly little song" was a favourite of the mother of Queen Elizabeth II.

The brother of Sir Paul McCartney further said he could not bring himself to tell the caretakers that the Queen Mum had actually been singing the wrong lyrics when she sang 'Thank U very much for our gracious Queen.'

"I was told that after dinner the Queen Mother would insist on going solo at the climax of the record," the Telegraph quoted him as saying.

He added: "I didn't have the heart to tell them that the actual words of my song were 'Thank U very much for our gracious team'.

"I was told that she would sing it to her daughter - The Queen - and look lovingly into her eyes as she did so.

"It's amazing to think my silly little song was being sung by a lady of such importance.

"I wrote it in a two-up two-down house and I could never have imagined it was being sung by the Queen Mother in her castle." (ANI)
