Islamabad, Nov.29 : The Pakistan Government has done an about turn on its earlier promise to send Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Director-General Lt. Gen. Ahmed Shujaa Pasha to India in connection with the probe into the terrorist strikes in Mumbai.

After a late night meeting between Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, it was decided that a representative of the intelligence agency would travel to India.

"A representative of the ISI will visit India, instead of its Director General Lt. Gen. Shuja Pasha, to help in investigating the Mumbai terrorism incident," a spokesman for the Prime Minister's House said. Earlier, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi announced that Lt. Gen. Pasha would soon visit New Delhi, as was desired by the Indian Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh.

"Yes, he (the ISI chief) will be visiting Indian very soon and will be supportive. Whoever has done it (the terror attacks in Mumbai) is not a friend, irrespective of religion or nationality. Whoever has done it, is barbaric," said Qureshi.

Qureshi, however, appealed not to jump to conclusions about who the culprits were.

"The past experience tells that we should stay away from giving knee-jerk reaction. During the Samjhauta Express blast incident too, allegations were made, but the ultimate reality turned out to be completely different," the Pakistan Foreign Minister said.

He also said that he was not aware of the antecedents of the so-called Deccan Mujahideen, which has claimed responsibility for the terror attacks in Mumbai that led to the death of about 130 people and injuries to about 327.

"Only God knows from where this so called Deccan Mujahideen has emerged. It is hoped that in the time to come, perhaps, something credible could be learnt," Qureshi said.

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh during his telephonic coversation with Pakistani Prime Minster Yousuf Raza Gilani said that the ISI chief should be sent to India regarding the latest terror attack.

The Indian PM reportedly told his Pakistani counterpart that the validity of having confidence building measures would be brought into question if such incidents continue to go unchecked and unhindered.
