Orissa Congress demands Revenue Minister' resignation
Bhubaneswar, Nov 29 (UNI) Senior Congress leader Narasingha Mishra today said his party would continue its demand for the resignation of Revenue Minister Manmohan Samal for his alleged sexual escapades at the 'Orissa Niwas' in New Delhi recently.
Mr Mishra said the minister should resign keeping in mind the prestige of the House.
In the past, many ministers have resigned after allegations were made against them, he said, adding Mr Samal was not above the law.
''If he did not resign on his own, the Chief Minister should remove him from the Council of Ministers, ''the Congress Deputy leader in the Orissa Assembly demanded.
He said the allegations of sexual impropriety have appeared in newspapers against three ministers-one at New Delhi and the rest two in Mumbai, and urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to inquire into the allegations and disclose the names of the other two ministers.
Mr Mishra also demanded the Chief Minister to make a statement and ask the ministers to resign.
The Congress leader said the Revenue Minister in the House had partly admitted the allegation by stating that he was in Delhi and helped the lady to organise a cultural event.
