CM asks finance dept to release funds

Hyderabad, Nov 28 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today asked the Finance Department to release the balance funds of nearly Rs.34 crore for the 3736 Rajiv Palle Bata works.

The works were initatied based Dr Reddy's assurances during his tour of various districts in the state.

Reviewing the progress of works with Finance Minister K Rosaiah and senior officials at secretariat, he made it clear that no work should be halted for want of funds under the scheme which he had launched on June 13, 2004.

Out of Rs 120.00 crore provided in the budget, only Rs 60.00 crore during the first and second quarters have been sanctioned by the Finance Department and the same was released to District Collectors. Administrative sanctions had been accorded for Rs 121.39 crore so far. An amount of Rs 94.33 crore was to be released for the works sanctioned during current year (Rs.69.40 crore) and for previous year works (Rs.24.93 crore).

Sanction for the remaining works would be issued soon and the works will start by January, 2008.
