Ahmedabad, Nov 27 (UNI) Noted Dancer Mallika Sarabhai had a lucky escape in last night's terror attack on the Taj Mahal hotel in South Mumbai.
Mallika told UNI here today that she and other 25 dancers of her 'Darpana Dance Acamedy' had performed a dance programme at Heritage Wing of the Hotel yesterday at 1945 hrs.
She said ''I and my dance group had performed a special programme for Chief Executive Officer (World) of Unilever Group.
In a choked voice, she said, ''It was God's wish that after the programme, she and her dancing group was invited by a friend for a dinner at Indigo-Deli Restaurant, located just behind the Taj.'' During the dinner, she was told that a shoot-out had taken place at the Hotel and hence she rushed back but was denied entry by the security personnel, citing safety concerns, she added.
''Though I and my dancers were lucky to escape, our passports and luggage are still lying in the Hotel rooms, mostly located on fifth floor,'' she said.
She and her dance group were supposed to leave for Dubai tonight to perform a special dance programme there next week, Ms Mallika added.
