Bangalore, Nov 27 (UNI) The Stewards of the Bangalore Turf Club (BTC) have decided to postpone the 6th day of the Bangalore Winter Meeting, scheduled to be held on Saturday, to Sunday, November 30.

The BTC Secretary, Mr Nirmal Prasad told UNI that this was done in the wake of authorities of Hyderabad Race Club preponing the races to be held on November 30 and December one to November 27 and 28 to enable the off course betting.

The official however denied that the postponement was due to the outbreak of equine flu that had hit the other centres like Mumbai, Pune and Delhi. Authorities of Royal Western India Turf Club in Mumbai have announced the indefinite postponement of the Mumbai racing season which should have started earlier this month.

However, the signs of the epidemic spreading to South had been evident in the wake of the authorities of Mysore Race Club deciding to cancel the races in the entire month of December in the wake of several horses suffering from fever.

"So far BTC stables are free from the equine influenza. Though a few horses were having fever, it was only normal one and the animals are under treatment," he added.
