Cong to complain to EC on misuse of official machinery in Karnataka
Bangalore, Nov 26 (UNI) Congress will soon file a complaint with the Election Commission with regard to alleged 'misuse of official machinery' by Bharatiya Janata Party in the assembly constituencies where byelection was ordered.
Briefing newsmen here State Congress Chief R V Deshpande charged the government with pumping funds to these constituencies in the name of developmental works. Even some officials were acting as the 'puppets' in the hands of the government, he alleged. He urged the Election Commission to appoint observers from outside the state to ensure free and fair conduct of polls.
Criticising the BJP for its attitude towards the people, he said though the party had assured tickets to defectors to re-contest the byelections, it was surprising that the candidates list had not not been announced as yet. The congress observers, who had toured the constituencies, had forwarded tha panel of names for these constituencies and the same had been sent to the party High Command for clearance, he added.
Working President D K Shivakumar, who was also present, said the party would set up vigilance squads to each of these assembly constituencies to identify those officials who show 'undue favours' to the ruling party and forward their names to the EC for suitable action.
