'MK's Delhi trip to protect Raja, not ceasefire demand'
Chennai, Nov 26: AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalitha on Wednesday, Nov 26 alleged that Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has decided to lead an all party delegation to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh not to demand ceasefire in Sri Lanka, but only to protect Union IT and Communication Minister A Raja, who was caught in the 'spectrum allocation scam'. In a statement here, she said when the Chief Minister convened the emergency meeting of the legislature parties on Tuesday, Nov 25, she doubted that there should be some selfish motive behind it and the outcome of the meeting has proved that she was not wrong.
As the spectrum scam has caused a furore in the country with all political parties demanding a probe, the Chief Minister, in a bid to cover it up, had convened the legislature party meeting, in the guise of discussing the Lankan Tamils issue.
She claimed that as the scam would be a major issue in the coming Lok Sabha elections, Mr Karunanidhi wanted to meet Dr Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi to save Mr Raja. And for this purpose, he had convened the meeting and enacted a drama.
In the guise of seeking ceasefire, Mr Karunanidhi is undertaking the Delhi mission at government expenses to protect his party minister, she alleged, adding people should realise that the Chief Minister was wasting public money for his personal interest.
