Beach couple acquitted by Dubai court
Dubai, Nov 26 (UNI) A Dubai court in a lenient order acquitted a British couple who were sentenced to three months jail for having sex on a public beach in the city.
The appeals court suspended the jail term slapped on Michelle Palmer and Vince Acors and let them off with a Dh 1000 fine, reports said.
They will be deported after paying the fine. The case had attracted a lot of international media attention.
Palmer, 37, former media executive, and Acors, 34, visitor, were sentenced to three months in jail on October 16 and imposed a fine of Dh 1,000 each, followed by deportation for having illicit sex, public indecency and consumption of liquor.
Both were arrested but were on bail throughout the trial.
