3 die, four injured in three seperate road accidents

Tiruchirapalli, Nov 22 (UNI) Three persons, including a woman were killed and five others seriously injured in three different accidents in Tiruchirpalli, Perambalur and Pudukkottai districts of Tamil Nadu early today.

Police said, a lorry driver drowned in a pool of water stored in a 150 feet deep stone quarry valley at suburb Thuvakudi Malai here. The deceased went to the quarry to load blue metal, and while doing so, he took his vehicle in the reverse direction, lost control over it and rolled down into the quarry.

In another incident, a woman was killed and her son-in-law seriously injured, when the two wheeler on which they were riding collided with a private bus at Thiruvappur in Pudukkottai district early today.

Police said, the deceased was identified as Neelavathi (50).

The injured identified as Kalidass, a mechanic working in the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation and the resident of Pudukkottai town was admitted to Government Headquarters Hospital at Pudukkottai.

The bus driver was taken into custody.

One person was killed on the spot and four of his relatives were injured when the State Transport Corporation bus in which they were travelling rammed into the rear side of an iron rod laden lorry at Thanneerpandal village on the Tiruchirapalli-Chennai National Highway, near Perambalur today.

Police said, the deceased was identified as Sivaprakasam (45) of Ulundurpet.

Police said the bus driver, in order to avoid an over take attempt made by the iron road laden lorry, lost control over his vehicle.

The injured were admitted to Government Headquarters Hospital Perambalur, police added.
