Malhotra lambasts government for not lowering petrol prices
New Delhi, Nov 21 (UNI) Lashing out at the UPA government for not bringing down petrol prices despite a heavy drop in international crude prices, senior BJP leader and party's chief ministerial candidate for Delhi Vijay Kumar Malhotra today said the move was anti-people.
Stating that current prices of petrol were fixed when international prices of crude was 148 dollars, Mr Malhotra said by not lowering the prices now, the government was deliberately burdening the people.
The Prime Minister, he said, was purposely not lowering prices as he wanted the petroleum companies to make a profit, in total disregard of people's sentiments and rising inflation leading to harrassing of the common man.
''This was not a proper thing specially when the 'aam admi' was crushed under inflationary pressures and sky-rocketting prices of essential commodities.'' The prices of petrol and diesel should immediately be revised downward and brought to realistic levels, he added.
