Dr Ansari to perform 'muhurat' of film on Abdul Hamid

Mumbai, Nov 17 (UNI) Vice President Hamid Ansari would perform a 'muhurat' ceremony of the Hindi film 'Vir Abdul Hamid', based on life of 1965 Indo-Pak war hero and Paramveer Chakra awardee Abdul Hamid.

Sources in ASR Telefilms, the production company, said the shooting for the film would start on December 27, the day when in 1954, Abdul Hamid, hailing from Dhampur village of Ghazipur, enrolled in the 4 Grenadiers. The gallant soldier died in the Khem Karan sector on the intervening night of September 8/9, 1965, but not before destroying seven enemy tanks.

The 'muhurat' will be performed by Dr Ansari, who is also from Ghazipur district. Bhojpuri superstar Manoj Tiwari will be enacting the title role. Suresh Oberoi will also play an important role in the film, sources added.

Produced by nephew of noted writer Dr Rahi Masoom Raza Sayed Asif Jah and directed by Shuja Ali, the film is slated for release on July one, next year, which is the birth anniversary of Abdul Hamid.
