Nationwide paintings exhibition by HIV +ve children for Andheri Home

Mumbai, Nov 13 (UNI) A unique collection of paintings by HIV positive children of St Catherine's Home in Andheri, a western suburb, will be exhibited across the country to mark the Children's Day, celebrated on the country's first prime minister late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's birth anniversary tomorrow.

The 100-odd oil and canvas collection under 'Ek Duniya' theme will depict the young artists' imaginations of 'My World' and 'Festivals' accompanied by the child's profile. The works will be displayed from November 14 to 15 across the nationwide showrooms of home furnishings brand Vividha Home Fashions.

The paintings are priced Rs 5,000 upwards and all proceeds will be donated to the St Catherine's Home, to be utilized for renovation work.

''In this time of financial turmoil, the first thing that gets affected is donations and funding to charitable organizations. Most contributors have scaled down or stopped their donations in an effort to cut costs. For two days, we have converted all our stores into galleries to exhibit and sell the works of these children,'' said Veena Deepak, chief executive officer of Vividha Home.

The Home, run by the Sisters Of Mount Carmel Entity, is home to more than 800 children and undertakes rehabilitation of unmarried women and the girl child.
