Kozhikode, Nov 8 (UNI) ''Revathy Pattathanam'', the annual debate by Vedic scholars, will be held at the Tali Mahadeva Temple here on November 11.
Reputed religious scholars from all parts of Kerala are expected to participate in the event patronised by the Kozhikode Zamorin, Revathi Pattathanam Samithi Secretary P K Krishnanunni Raja told newspersons here today.
City Mayor M Bhaskaran would inaugurate the function.
The scholar to be adjudged as the best would be honoured with a ''panakkizhi'' (purse) by Zomorin P K Sree Manavedan Raja after the ritual.
Special prayers including murajapam' in three Vedas, Udayasthamana puja' for Tali Mahadevan' and Lord Sri Krishna navakom' for Ugra Narasimhamoorthi' and a religious procession would also be held prior to the beginning of the scholarly debate, he said.
Two awards instituted by the Samithi -- Krishnageethi Puraskaram for best collection of poems and outstanding temple artist puraskaram -- would be presented to Vishnu Narayanan Namboodiri and P Damodaran Nair respectively at the valedictory function in the evening.
The awards carry Rs 5,001 each, citation and plaque.
Cultural programmes, including 'Kathakali' (dance drama), would also be staged as part of the programme.
