Attacked victim's mother seeks inclusion of Azhagiri's name in FIR
Chennai, Nov 6 (UNI) The mother of one of the three victims of the Tamil daily 'Dinakaran' office attack case in Madurai, today moved the Madras High Court, seeking a direction to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to include the name of M K Azhagiri in the First Information Report (FIR) in connection with the case.
Ms Thilagavalli, mother of Gopi, a computer operator, one of the three staff members of the popular daily newspaper,who was burnt alive when an irate mob, allegedly, supporters of Mr Azhagiri attacked the office in May last year.
The group attacked the office for carrying a survey, portraying Mr Azhagiri, the Madurai based son of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi in poor light.
The local police filed a complaint based on a charge by Dinakaran management, which mentioned Mr Azhagiri's name.
When the case was transferred to the CBI, the central agency did not include Mr Azhagiri's name in the FIR, she contended.
Ms Thilagavalli said after the Judicial Magistrate Court in Madurai rejected her plea, seeking a direction to the CBI to include Mr Azhagiri's name in the FIR, she had moved the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court, which had also dismissed her plea.
When the present petition came up for hearing today, Justice K Mohan Ram directed the petitioner's counsel to argue the case on October 10, to decide the maintainability.
