No politics please, says police to Chhat Puja organisers

Mumbai, Nov 3 (UNI) The Mumbai police today said they had asked Chhat Puja organisers to stick to ''the prayers'' and religious programmes only as no entertainment or political programmes would be allowed during the festival tomorrow.

Additional Commissioner of Police Western Region Archana Tyagi and Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) K L Prasad told a press conference that four police watch towers and 11 CCTV cameras have been installed at Juhu beach, where 'puja' is to be performed and nearly four lakh people are expected to participate.

Ms Tyagi said the festival will be celebrated at 19 places in the city but more people were expected to gather for the celebration at Juhu beach.

State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel would also be pressed into service, Ms Tyagi added.

Chhat Puja is a ritual that involves worship of the setting sun.
