Youth Congress stages demonstration before Rajnivas
Puducherry, Nov 2 (UNI) Police and Youth Congress volunteers had an altercation in front of the Rajnivas here when they came to submit a memorandum to the Lt Governor.
When police prevented the volunteers to enter the Rajnivas they argued with the police and later held a demonstration.
Police allowed five volunteers, including Youth Congress President Pandian, who submitted a memorandum to the Private Secretary to the Lt Governor as he was away, seeking to initiate action against those who criticised Ms Sonia Gandhi and Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Planning V Narayanasami and also take steps to impose a ban on the MDMK, which was supporting the banned LTTE.
Speakers at a fast, organised by the Tamil Associations here yesterday, allegedly crticised Ms Gandhi and V Narayansami.
Following which the Youth Congress volunteers entered into an argument with the Association members.
Later, they were arrested and released.
However, the volunteers of the Tamil Associations, who were taken into custody for their alleged remarks and used objectionable words against police, were remanded to judicial custody.
