EC warns Govt Employees against misconduct during poll duty
Jaipur, Nov 1 (UNI) The Election Commission has warned the government employees of stern action if any of them was found guilty of interfering or influencing voters during election duty.
Addressing a press conference here yesterday Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami said during interaction with the commission, representatives of political parties had expressed their apprehensions over the possibility of unfair role of employees for or against a particular party.
Mr Gopalaswami said, "We have taken note of their feelings and will take effective measures to ensure fairness of the polling process".
He said polling personnel would not be allowed to go to polling enclosure in the polling booth.
"If any polling personnel entered in the polling enclosure unduly during polling he or she will be placed under suspension", the CEC warned.
He said polling personnel were required to be fair and impartial in their conduct during election duty and expected to strictly follow the rules and instructions.
He said due action would also be taken if any of government employees' union made political appeal for or against a particular party.
