CPM supports govt medical college in Mandi

Shimla, Oct 29 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh state committee of the CPM has extended support to the ongoing agitation of the people of Mandi who are fighting for establishment of a government Medical College at the district headquarter town.

In a press statement released here today, Member, State Secretariat of the CPM, Tikender Singh Panwar said that the decision of the state government not to open a government medical college in Mandi was shocking.

The CPM has called upon the people to participate in a mass movement to put pressure on the government to reconsider its decision.

The party criticised the BJP governments proposed move to attach three government hospitals to the private medical colleges to be opened in Mandi, Una and Hamirpur. The CPM has termed this move as a precursor towards complete privatisation of the medical services.
