Police urge Govt to provide separate place for agitation
Bangalore, Oct 28 (UNI) Police urged the Karnataka Government to provide a separate place in the city preferably at the premises of the old Central Jail for public demonstration and protestors to express their grievances.
In a letter written to Chief Secretary, copy of which was released to the press here today, City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari said If a seperate place was identified for the purpose, it would be easy for the police to maintain law and order, traffic regulation and ensure security to the agitators.
Mr Bidari said "In a democratic polity like ours, it is not possible to suppress agitation, processions and public meetings, which are held by various pressure groups like farmers, labourers, students, political parties and others".
