Cong protests cancellation of Rahul's prog in Kanpur
Kanpur, Oct 25 (UNI) Youth Congress workers here today burnt Chandrashekar Azad Agriculture University Vice-Chancellor V K Suri in effigy in the Kotwali area protesting the cancellation of party General Secretary Rahul Gandhi's programme at the varsity.
Raising anti-state government slogans, the Congress workers set afire the effigy of the VC near Bara Chauraha.
The mob sought a probe into the disturbance in the Amethi MP's programme.
Yesterday, Mr Gandhi's scheduled programme at the university was cancelled at last movement.
The state government had, however, denied its hand behind the cancellation of his programme and said it could have been the decision of the university.
