Four minors die after pox vaccination in Assam
Guwahati, Oct 22 (UNI) At least four children died and another eight fell seriously ill after receiving vaccination for pox in Assam's Baksa district today.
According to reports received here, children of a remote village were being vaccinated for pox during a day-long programme.
Four children took ill after the vaccination and started vomiting. They collapsed after a while and died within half-an-hour.
All the children were between nine to eleven months old. Another eight have been shifted to the Barpeta civil hospital in a serious condition.
Suspicion of spurious medicines being used could not be ruled out though investigations would reveal if the children were sick prior to the vaccination or it caused their death.
