Mysore: Watch showcased as part of Deepavali Exihibition

Mysuru, Oct 21: For the new generation brought up on quartz and electronic watches sold at dime a dozen in the ubiquitous Burma Bazaars, here is an opportunity to behold what the art of clock-making is all about.

Now mostly confined to art galleries for exhibitions or the elite keen to pursue their taste for the exotic, Grandfather Clocks will be on display at the JSS Urban Haath from October 24 to November 2.

The exhibition of the exquisite 'Renaissance Grandfather Clocks' will feature clocks that tower over 9 feet and have a width of more than three feet. Brought to Mysore for the first time, the clocks are being showcased as part of the Deepavali Exhibition, and will also be put up for sale.

They are handcrafted in the old world tradition with solid wood cabinets that lend them a distinct look. Precious metals have been used for the weights that enable the winding mechanism.
