HP to spend Rs 4.28 cr for promoting para-gliding in Bir
Kangra, Oct 20 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Government would spend Rs 4.28 cr on upgrading the infrastructure of Bir Billing area to promote para-gliding events, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said today.
"Bir Billing is fast emerging as an international spot for the organisation of international para-gliding events. The day is not far away when we will organise Paragliding World Cup here," Mr Dhumal said while addressing the closing ceremony of week-long Himalayan Paragliding Pre-World Cup-2008 at Bir Billing.
"Himachal has tremendous potential for carrying out tourism related activities like paragliding, trekking, mountaineering, mountain biking, river rafting etc. Bir-Billing, particularly, has proved its potential for paragliding among other adventure tourism activities," he said.
Mr Dhumal congratulated the winners and all the participants and also complimented the Tourism and Civil Aviation Ministry for successfully organising this international event in which 82 pilots including 12 women from various parts of the world had participated.
