Economic blockade disrupts traffic in Manipur

Imphal, Oct 18 (UNI) The transport movement was stopped on NH 39 here today, due to an indefinite economic blockade by the successful candidates for primary teachers as they were demanding immediate finalization on the selection list.

Following the blockade large numbers of vehicles were stranded on the highway as the strike supporters pelted stones to the vehicles.

Police said, two people were detained in Senapati district for disrupting transport movement.

The Imphal Churachandpur traffic was also disrupted due to the stir.

Movement of passenger bus services were however not stopped.

Some students bodies in Manipur have also decided to support the indefinite blockade.
