SOG guns down wanted criminal in UP

Jaunpur, Oct 16 (UNI) Special Operation Group (SOG) today gunned down a wanted criminal in Jafarabad area here today.

On a tip-off that Vinay Mallah was in the area, police laid a cordon. Noticing the police, Mallah opened fire and was shot dead in retaliatory firing, SP Rajesh Modak said.

However, his accomplice managed to escape.

Meanwhile, police seized a revolver and cartridges from the spot.

Mallah had 14 criminal cases of murder, loot, robbery and other such heinous crimes pending against him.

The slain criminal had a reward of Rs 5,000.
