Mother survives, kids drown in Pavana river

Pune, Oct 14 (UNI) Two minors drowned, while their mother survived after they fell into the Pavana river near Ravet-Chinchwad Road, around 25 km from here.

According to police, Kavita Manik Late (30), who went to the river yesterday to wash her feet before entering a nearby temple slipped and fell into it. Following Kavita's cry for help her son Tushar (7) and daughter Vaishnavi (4) entered the water.

A passerby managed to pull out Kavita and Vaishnavi, who were rushed to a local hospital, but could not find Tushar.

Later, fire brigade personnel fished out Tushar's body, while Vaishnavi was declared dead by the doctors.

Kavita is recovering at the hospital, police added.
