Challan against 2 ex EE and others produced in Kashmir court
Srinagar, Oct 14 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation (VO) today produced challan against two former Executive Engineers (EE) and five suppliers in a corruption case in a local court here.
A VO spokesman said the challan was produced in the court of Special Judge, Anti-corruption, Kashmir, against former engineers Nazir Ahmad Shah and Abdul Ahmad Najar and five suppliers for misappropriation of Rs 11.04 lakh in the purchase of stores at highly exorbitant rates.
Giving details, he said an FIR was registered on August 30, 2005, following allegations about abuse of official position and misappropriation of government money by the engineers during the purchase of reflective cat eye( road studs), paints, premier, warmish, distemper and rapidite from favourite delayers on highly exorbitant rates.
He said during the course of investigation, it was revealed that the accused officers, in furtherance of a criminal conspiracy with the suppliers, siphoned off government money in purchase of these items on highly exorbitant rates through stage managed collusive and controlled quotations, thereby, causing a loss of Rs 11.04 lakh to the state exchequer.
He said the challan was produced after receiving an accord of sanction for prosecution of these engineers.
