16 police personnel among 40 injured in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 12 (UNI) Fresh violence in the downtown city today left 40 people, including 6 police and 10 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, injured, official sources said.

They said a group of youths took to the streets at different places at Down Town raising ''pro-freedom slogans''.

when they refused to disperse police and security personnel fired rubber bullets and burst teargass shells.

They said 24 people were injured in the clash. One of them identified as Suhail Ahmed who received bullet wounds was critical.

A police spokesman this evening said six police personnel including one police Sub Inspector and 10 CRPF men were injured in the clash.
