Investmart-2008 to highlight business opportunities in North East

New Delhi, Oct 10 (UNI) The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, in association with the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) is organising the first ever Conference on North-Eastern States 'Investmart'- 2008: The Rainbow of Opportunities, here on October 14.

According to official sources, Minister for Development of North Eastern Region and Panchayati Raj, Mani Shankar Aiyar will be the Chief Guest at the event.

Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh is among the 16 eminent speakers who will be speaking at the conference.

Other speakers include Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Minister of State in PMO Prithviraj Chavan, DoNER Secretary Mrs Veena S Rao, ASSOCHAM President Sajjan Jindal, ASSOCHAM Vice- President Dillip Modi, NEC Secretary Falguni Rajkumar, NEC Adviser (Banking, Industries and Tourism) Ms M S Bhuyan, ONGC Chairman and MD R S Sharma, Former Chairmanof PNB S SKohli, among others.

Chief Secretaries and Commissioner cum Secretariesof Industries of NE States will also make presentation in the Conference.

The objectives of the Conference are to ensure speedy economic development through accelerating the pace of industrialization in the North Eastern States; to bring the North Eastern Region significantly visible in the industrial map of India; and to provide an excellent platform for both the NE States as well as prospective investors to share information and investment plans and projects.

The Investmart 2008 will focus on thrust areas like Infrastructure and Real Estate, Oil and Natural Gas, Power, Agro and Food Processing, Handicrafts and Handloom, Tourism, Information Technology and Banking Services.
