Include local goods in cross LoC trade: NC leader

Jammu, Oct 10 (UNI) Expressing gratitude over cross border trade initiative through Chakkan-da-Bagh on Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference Woman leader Shahnaz Ganai today demanded inclusion of local goods and items to promote trade.

''Including local products in cross trade will not only generate revenue but also help in strengthening the relations between the people of divided regions,'' Dr Shahnaz said in a statement here.

Dr Shahnaz, however, urged upon the state and the Centre governments to keep the sentiments of the locals and asserted, '' local items including spices like Rajmash, vegetables including 'Guchhis', medicinal herbs, maize should be given priority besides desi ghee, honey to promote cross border trade.'' ''The government should consider the demand of the local trader community for the benefits of the people and to boost the economy of the region, the NC leader added.

''I think the trader's delegation, who arrived here yesterday via Uri-Muzaffarabad route, should also visit Poonch and interact the traders in this region to strengthen the trading relations across the border,'' dr Shahnaz asserted.
